Air Chess
Chess set
Status: Self-initiated concept
Year: 2009
Description: Air Chess is an attempt to reimagine the chessboard as a game played by living beings of another nature. Biomorphic forms, lightness, openness, and fluid silhouettes create a strong sense of air and weightlessness.
The hollow centers of the pieces allow the eye to see through them, creating layered depths across the board. In the hand, the Air Chess pieces feel almost like translucent candies — tactile, smooth, and pleasurable to hold.
